The Constitutional Chamber in Costa Rica positively resolved the legal dispute presented by MarViva and five non-governmental organizations. With support of the artisanal fishers, the action resulted in the elimination of the renewal, reactivation, and granting of new licenses for shrimp trawling, in light of the damage caused to the marine environment by these activities and their negative effects on the artisanal sector.
