Travis Aten, based in Halifax Canada, is an independent ocean consultant who has a background in international ocean policy, governance, management and biodiversity conservation. His previous experience focused on the establishment of marine protected areas within Canada to achieve Aichi Target 11, and campaigning for the creation of a new international treaty to protect and sustainably use marine biodiversity within the high seas. Travis has worked for the Ecology Action Center, the High Seas Alliance, the Ocean Frontier Institute and currently works for Communications Inc., with a focus on deep seabed mining and ocean/climate issues. Travis has joined the DSCC team as Campaign Communications Manager.
