New protections against deep-sea mining in the waters of California

The state Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee of California voted unanimously in support of The Seabed Mining Prevention

Act. AB 1832 would proactively safeguard more than 2,500 square miles of seafloor and connected habitat, which will, in turn, help protect California’s economically vibrant ocean recreation, tourism, and fishing industries.
